It wasn't even on our list of options but we are going to Fort Riley, Kansas on 7/15.
Victor has been assigned to the 1st Division Infantry Brigade
The only image I had of Kansas was the Wizard of Oz. Since then we have talked to a Sgt. who was there a year ago and he recommended that we live in Manhattan, KS which is only 25 minutes from base. It has a population of 50,000 and includes the University of Kansas. There is a zoo, museum, parks w/ lakes and much much more. We will be near the base of the Flint Hills and it is listed as one of the top 10 places to retire.
It sounds wonderful!
I broke the news to the girls and though they were excited Naomi wished we had been assigned to Hawaii and Hannah wished we had been assigned to Egypt. I'm sure more exotic stations await us in the future!!

I am excited for you but that sounds a little too far away.
That's great. I am confident you guys can make anywhere feel like home. Plus they will be building a temple near by soon. Good luck.
I hear from Dorothy that there's no place like Kansas. Or home. Maybe home in Kansas? Hope you enjoy it.
ANN-
I know you guys might not have been expecting it but I am excited. You will only be a couple hours from me. We'll have to make a drive down to see you. When is the move?
