Update on Victor

Victor left for basic training in Fort Jackson, South Carolina on April 14, 2006 for the Army National Guard. He had quite the experience as you can imagine. I knew it was going to be hard but I didn't feel sorry for him. I knew he would have an unforgettable experience. Some highlights included: the gas chamber, low crawling, throwing live grenades, shooting rockets and night surveillance. He was only able to call home for five minutes Sunday mornings! He graduated with flying colors and headed off to Fort Huachuca, Arizona for his Advanced Training as an Intelligence Analyst. He now has a less rigid schedule and is able to call home every day and have the weekends off. He said the classes are very intense but he is doing well. He will be home at the end of October. The girls know that dad will be home for Halloween.

The girls and I all miss him terribly. Hannah was singing in the bathroom the other day and I heard in the lyrics "I miss my dad". The baby is due August 18th (Victor's birthday) and Victor says there is a good chance he will be able to fly home for Labor Day Weekend in September. Wouldn't that be wonderful!

We are waiting to hear back from the ROTC program at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Hopefully he will qualify for the tuition scholarship and be able to graduate as an officer.

We are so proud of him!!
